LEADERSHIP
Charles Nieman
FOUNDER & SENIOR PASTOR
As an El Paso native, Charles Nieman is no stranger to the Sun City. After marrying his late partner Rochelle, they found themselves at one of the largest churches in El Paso. Feeling empowered by the teachings of the Lord, they began a small bible study in 1977. What began as a small gathering of 12 grew into what we know today as Abundant.
A true family man, Charles is a dedicated father to his two children, Jared and Shannon Nieman, and a grandfather.
Favorite Scripture: “ The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 (NKJV)

Jared Nieman
LEAD PASTOR
Growing up with strong and genuine examples of faith, God was always present in his life. As a man who values the Lord, he grew into his faith as a young adult. After college, his personal journey of faith led him to the ministry, where he truly felt a passion to lead people to God.
Jared currently serves as one of the Lead Pastors at Abundant. He is passionate about motivational speaking, practical Christian living, and serving his community, and family. Jared is a devoted husband and father to his two children.
Favorite Scripture: “It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special.”
1 Thessalonians 1:4 (MSG)

Shannon Nieman
LEAD PASTOR
Shannon grew up in the church. With the positive influence of her parents, she always had a strong relationship with the Lord. Embracing her faith from an early age, she learned “church is not where we go, it’s who we are.”
Shannon currently serves as one of the Lead Pastors at Abundant Church and is the founder of One Sisterhood, Abundant’s women’s ministry. She is passionate about female empowerment, parenting, and building ties in the community. Shannon is a devoted mother to her two children.
Favorite Scripture: “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

Rochelle’s Legacy
Rochelle Nieman grew up in a small town in Raton, New Mexico. At 18 years old, she moved to El Paso to pursue her studies at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she ultimately ended up falling in love with Charles. Rochelle first received Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Influenced by her passion and faithfulness, Charles soon after embraced the word of God.
In 1970, they were happily married and had two children, Shannon and Jared. Seven short years later, Charles and Rochelle felt called to teach God’s word. What began in a small railroad union hall with 20 people eventually grew to Abundant today, 30,000+ members and growing.
Pastor Rochelle passed away on December 30, 2012. May her light always shine and her legacy live on

STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and a divine revelation of Jesus Christ, God's Son. (Il Timothy 3:16; John 1:1,14)
We believe God is a three-part being: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. (John 14:16-26)
We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, walked upon and ministered on the earth, died on the cross, arose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of God. (Hebrews 1:3)
We believe that a person's salvation is through the verbal confession of Jesus as Lord and Savior of their life and the belief that He was raised from the dead by God. (Romans 10:8-13)
We believe that Jesus has sent the Comforter in the person of the Holy Spirit and that we may be filled with Him and speak in other tongues as He gives us utterance according to God's Word. (Acts 1:4-8; Acts 2:1-4)
We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit in the local church as expressed in the Bible found in 1 Corinthians 12-14.
We believe in water baptism as a statement of belief and faith after accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. (Romans 6:4)
We believe in the celebration of the Lord's Supper in remembrance of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:24-26)
We believe in the total substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus - freeing us from hell, death, and the grave, and giving us an abundant and eternal life; He was made poor that we may be made rich (Il Corinthians 8:9); He was made sin that we might be made righteous (Il Corinthians 5:21); He was made a curse that we might be redeemed (Galatians 3:13); and He was made sick that we might be healed (I Peter 2:24).
We believe that God is our answer, not our problem, and that He does not use sickness, disease, tests, trials, and tragedy to teach His children, but instead uses His Word to instruct us in the ways of righteousness. (James 1:13; II Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 12:9)
We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and that we as members of His body shall reign together with Him. (Matthew 24:30-31; I Corinthians 15; Revelation 5:9-10)
We believe in and actively endeavor to uphold the Great Commission, given to us by Jesus, that we are called to proclaim God's Word and message of freedom and liberty to all creatures. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18)
We believe in the building up and edifying of the Body of Christ through the assembling of ourselves together in worship, hearing the teaching of the Word of God, and fellowship.
(Hebrews 10:24-25)
